Our Program

The Newcomer Youth Engagement Program (NYEP) is a new program in Saskatoon that works with refugee and immigrant youth in our community.

The goal of the program is to improve outcomes for young adult newcomers in our community.

The program is a school within a school where we focus on intense language development using the themes of community, wellness, living and working in Canada, literacy in finance/technology and numbers, personal growth and communication skills.

NYEP is just one component in our community to support and promote newcomer success. Please see the Program Pathways - Newcomer Youth 17-21 for an idea of the broader connections throughout our city.

The NYEP is staffed by a program coordinator and Saskatchewan Professional teachers. We are partnered with both school divisions in Saskatoon - Saskatoon Public Schools and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. We rely on and work closely with settlement agencies in Saskatoon and other community agencies.

The program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and part of the Saskatoon Industry Education Council.
